After working for nearly 10 years in advertising agencies, Melina founded Wise Greece, a social enterprise with a dual mission. It helps the small Greek farmers to grow their sales and export their products thus achieving financial sustainability, while at the same time uses the profits from the sales in order to buy and donate food to soup kitchens, children and families in Greece that live below the poverty line.
Today Wise Greece works with 100 small producers with more than 1.500 products; exports to 8 countries and has donated over 30 tons of food to orphanages and charitable institutions. Also, Wise Greece has received important awards for its work, among which is the prestigious award from the President of the Greek Republic “Models of Excellence”, as well as the European Social Challenges Award 2018.
Melina often presents Wise Greece and its successful model at international conferences aiming to inspire young people to create their own social enterprises. She is a Tedx speaker, she is an IVLP Alumni in the program of Social Responsibility and Social Innovation and she was recently named Young Emerging Leader 2018 by the European-Australian Forum. She also serves as an ambassador to organizations that support initiatives for the empowerment of women.
